I am of the idea that it is ok to give more than we receive, as long as what we receive is genuine and consistent with what we are told a person could be and give. Sometimes people are either not capable or can’t give the same, particularly when you are a giving person like you describe. But if you later on find they are capable, then they are just plain lazy in the kindness they give you and what they offer or just not interested. And that is when we need to have some self-love bigger than anything else we may have for others…
